The slide datasheet is a fully functioning Excel workbook that is embedded in a PowerPoint slide. Here's what you can do with the slide datasheet:
- Manage the data for all charts and other elements on a slide in one place.
- Add comments and calculations that you don't want to show on your slide.
- Create a chart and a table from the same data range (see Duplicate chart data as a table).
- Save the slide datasheet to your computer as an Excel file.

To open the slide datasheet, on the PowerPoint ribbon, select Insert > think-cell > Tools
As long as PowerPoint is open and the slide is selected, the slide datasheet stays open. To close the datasheet, on the title bar, select Close
There are two ways to link charts or other elements to the slide datasheet:
- To link an existing element to the slide datasheet, open the element's datasheet (see Element datasheets (TO DO)). Then, on the datasheet toolbar, select Move Data to Slide Datasheet
- To create a chart, table, or other element from existing data in the slide datasheet, see the following topics:
