think-cell celebrates its 10th anniversary
Berlin, April 12, 2012
In late 2001, Arno Schödl contacted his former schoolmate Markus Hannebauer in a night-time phone call with the idea to create the world's most intelligent presentation software. Both were about to finish their studies in computer science and had to decide what to do after their PhD.
During the following months, Arno pulled up stakes at the Georgia Institute of Technology after refining the technical foundations of the business idea, while Markus bootstrapped the company in Berlin.
On the 12th of April 2002, Markus and Arno founded think-cell Software GmbH – which today is think-cell's R&D unit and holding of the think-cell group of companies – together with Sebastian Müller and Thorsten Waldow. The latter two co-founders left the company after a few months and two business angels joined in. Since then, think-cell has been a company run solely by its owners.
think-cell has grown quickly and is today a software company of unparalleled proficiency and efficiency. The rather small group of developers, sales and support people creates products that are the gold standard in professional slide production. As a result, think-cell generates considerably more revenue than other software companies of its size. Even after ten years, the company still enjoys high double-digit growth rates.
"On the occasion of our 10th anniversary, we would like to thank all our customers for their continuous support", says Markus Hannebauer. "Many of them took the early-adopter risk that comes with disruptive innovation and put their trust in us. So did many of our employees when starting their careers at think-cell. Today, both our customers and employees take credit for this trust, jointly working with and on products that have changed the way presentations are done."
