AI in presentation creation: Adoption and usage in Europe and North America

A 2026 global survey found that 80% of professionals already use AI tools in some way to support their presentation creation workflows. North Americans are over 50% more likely than Europeans to be regularly using AI for presentation creation

Although the top-line number of professionals using AI for presentations is very similar (79.2% in Europe, 80.3% in North America) and close to the global average of 80%, North Americans tend to be using AI more often. 44% of US and Canadian respondents regularly use AI when creating presentations, compared with just 29% of Europeans.

Since the rise of generative AI, there have been different approaches to regulation. For example, Canada’s AI for All strategy launched in June 2026 focuses on trust, opportunity and sovereignty, while the EU’s AI Act is centered on addressing the risks of AI.

It’s interesting to see how professionals’ day-to-day behavior aligns with AI regulatory frameworks introduced by their respective governments. In the United States, 60.8% of professionals regularly use AI for presentations, which tallies closely with the US government’s more flexible approach to emerging AI technologies.

In North America, half of professionals use Google AI/Gemini for presentations and almost 1 in 4 use Claude

ChatGPT is the AI tool used by most professionals for presentations in both Europe (64%) and North America (66%). Given the higher overall AI adoption rate, it’s perhaps unsurprising to see that other AI tools are also used more frequently in North America than in Europe.

While Microsoft Copilot is in second place in both regions, Google AI/Gemini stands out, being used by 49% of North America professionals when creating presentations, compared with just 34% of Europeans. The difference for Claude is even clearer. In North America, almost a quarter (24%) of professionals use Claude for presentations, which is more than twice as many as in Europe (11%).

The wider usage of AI tools in North America shows that professionals in the US and Canada are trying out more ways of integrating AI into their presentation workflows. This may be helped by companies’ more flexible AI policies, allowing employees to try different tools and learn how AI can help them work more productively.

Europeans are much less likely to be satisfied with AI tools, particularly for creating charts or entire presentations

North Americans are more satisfied with AI tools’ performance across all presentation tasks than their European counterparts. The highest satisfaction is with text-based tasks, which are an established strength of LLMs. 42% of North Americans are satisfied with how AI tools help them review and refine content, and their ability to create executive summaries.

Comparing regions, Europeans’ lower AI adoption is matched by lower satisfaction rates. The differences are particularly noticeable for complex presentation tasks. Just 22% of European survey respondents said they were satisfied with how AI creates and edits charts for their presentations, and even fewer (14%) reported satisfaction with using AI to create entire presentations from scratch.

Professionals making high-stakes presentations aren’t going to use AI tools if they’re not happy with the outputs. Anyone evaluating the rollout of an AI tool for their team or organization should ensure the chosen solution can be effectively integrated into their workflows and complete tasks to the required professional standard.

North American users emphasize AI integration with existing tools, while Europeans would like to see evidence of real time savings

When asked what would make them more likely to adopt AI tools for presentation creation, both Europeans and North Americans give better quality of outputs and strong data security amongst their three most common answers.

In addition, Europeans also indicate that more proven time savings would encourage them to use more AI tools for presentation creation. This suggests that Europeans are currently more skeptical than North Americans as to whether AI tools can create genuine productivity gains. Clearly, better integration into presentation workflows and less need for reiterating on outputs would be two meaningful ways AI for tools to prove their value and convince European users.

Respondents in North America emphasize the seamless integration into tools they already use. The desire for more integration is also borne out by the data, as a higher proportion of North American presentation creators are already using AI inside the PowerPoint environment (Copilot 54%, Claude 24%). Looking ahead, around three in four professionals in both Europe and North America expect to increase their usage of AI for presentations in the next twelve month.

However, a closer look at the data shows more enthusiasm in the North America, where 36% expect a significant increase, 11 percentage points (45%) more than in Europe.

North America adopts AI-powered presentation creation faster

Throughout this analysis, the data has shown a consistent pattern. North Americans are ahead of Europeans in AI adoption for presentations, they are using a wider range of tools, they are more satisfied, and they expect usage to increase more.

The message to organizations that still might be cautious on how to best use AI for presentations is clear. Increased familiarity and closer integration into employees’ workflows can trigger a positive flywheel effect, where adoption increases satisfaction, encourages more usage and leads to improved outputs for real-terms productivity gains.
