C++ Meetup in Munich, Germany 2025

April 10, 2025

We are excited to partner with the MUC++ user group to organize our upcoming C++ Meetup in Munich on April 10th. Our meetups provide an opportunity for developers to come together, share knowledge, and engage in discussions around C++. The event is open to developers of all levels, offering in-depth technical talks and the chance to connect with peers in the industry.

This meetup will feature a talk by Jonathan Müller, Software Engineer at think-cell, on "Functional Programming in C++." Jonathan is responsible for maintaining think-cell’s core libraries, which include a custom range library, a fast JSON parser, and other utilities that facilitate writing clean and efficient C++ code. Before joining think-cell, Jonathan developed several open-source C++ libraries and has served as assistant chair for std::ranges in the C++ standardization committee. He is also an experienced conference speaker, and we are pleased to have him share his expertise.

In his presentation, Jonathan will introduce functional programming as a declarative approach to writing programs by composing functions. This approach can lead to code that is easier to understand, less error-prone, and more maintainable. The talk will cover topics such as algorithms using std::ranges, composable error handling with std::optional and std::expected, algebraic data types, and separating IO from computation. The session will also address the M-word in the context of functional programming.

The event will take place at smartvillage Schwantalerhöhe in Munich. We will begin at 18:00 with food, drinks, and an opportunity for informal networking. Valerie and Anastasia from the tech recruiting team will be present to answer any questions regarding working at think-cell. At 19:00, there will be a lightning talk by Daniel Teubl, followed by Jonathan’s main talk at 19:30. The event will conclude by 21:30, but participants are welcome to stay and continue conversations afterward.

We invite everyone interested in C++ and are really looking forward to our C++ Meetup in Munich.
