WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin, Germany 2024

July 17, 2024

We are pleased to share an overview of our participation in the WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2024, held on July 17-19 in Berlin, Germany. This marked our third consecutive year sponsoring this major developer conference, which brought together over 15,000 tech professionals and featured more than 680 speakers.

Over these days, we engaged with event attendees at our booth, offering a C++ quiz designed to test their programming skills and showcase our commitment to fostering a challenging and rewarding work environment. Participants were eager to test their knowledge, and many joined in the fun for a chance to win prizes from think-cell. In addition to the quiz, we hosted a raffle featuring items like our green socks, raincoats, beach balls, pins, and candy for everyone. These activities attracted visitors to our booth, where they also learned about our C++ Developer and C++ Internship opportunities.

We were also proud to contribute to the conference's program lineup. Our team delivered presentations that drew strong interest and were attended by 370+ engineers, interested in C++:

  • Jonathan Müller, Software Engineer, presented "An (In-)Complete Guide to C++ Object Lifetimes," covering creation and destruction, temporary lifetime extension, memory management practices, and relevant C++ features and optimizations.
  • Arno Schoedl, think-cell founder and CTO, discussed "Why Iterators Got It All Wrong — and What We Should Use Instead," highlighting the fundamental flaws in the C++ iterator concept, distinguishing between elements and boundaries, and proposing a solution for clearer code and reduced errors.
  • Sebastian Theophil, Senior Software Engineer, provided a practical introduction to ARM assembly in his session, "Passive ARM Assembly Skills for Debugging, Optimization (and Hacking)," which focused on ARM assembly code essential for debugging and optimizing applications on ARM machines, particularly for those familiar with x86 assembly.

Participating in the WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2024 was a valuable experience for think-cell, allowing us to connect with a broad spectrum of dedicated professionals, share our expertise, and discuss potential career paths with talented professionals from C++ community. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth and attended our presentations. We look forward to continuing these conversations and seeing everyone at future events!
