C++ Russia Conference in Saint Petersburg

October 31 - November 1, 2019

Here at think-cell, we always look forward to visiting C++ events in Russia. This year was no different, and we were pleasantly surprised by the turnout at the C++ Russia conference in Saint Petersburg.

We had the pleasure of greeting over 570 conference participants at our booth this year, where we were happy to talk their ears off about our company and career opportunities, and shower them with Germany candy and a stylish branded C++ coffee cup.

Our CTO, Arno Schödl, presented his new talk “The C++ rvalue lifetime disaster” for the first time. In this talk, Arno describes the problems in detail, presents a library-only approach to mitigate the problem, and finally, makes an impossible-to-ever-get-into-the-standard proposal of how to put things right. Over 250 conference participants gathered at the room to listen to this talk, making it the most popular one among the track. As there were no empty seats left, the talk was translated on the demo Stage, so people, who did not fit into the room, had an opportunity to listen to the talk.

Being a Silver Sponsor, we also had the opportunity to give a 10 minute presentation on the demo stage. Arno demonstrated our product and provided some insights on how it works.

It was just another great experience with the C++ community, and we are now already looking forward to next year’s conference.
