KB0039: With think-cell chart installed, the menu entries for Cut, Copy and Paste have vanished from PowerPoint's context menu

Solution

Under rare circumstances, the menu entries for Cut, Copy and Paste get lost in PowerPoint's context menu. In this case, you can restore the menu items:

1. From the Tools menu choose Customize...
2. Open the Toolbars tab and scroll down until you find Shortcut Menus
3. Select Shortcut Menus and click the Reset... button on the right

Alternatively, you can restore all menus by simply deleting the file PPT.pcb, PPT10.pcb or PPT11.pcb, depending on your version of PowerPoint. This file can usually be found at

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\ →
Application Data\Microsoft\PowerPoint

Note: You may want to rename the file instead of deleting it, so that you can restore it if needed.
